April Fruit Bloom DTA Entry #1

I'm love with this Bloom, oh my gosh. I needed something to fix my bit of art block and I think this did it.

Occupation: Easter-time or not, he runs a shop that specializes in decorating eggs for any occasion. Said shop also sells other pastries and decorated baked goods. He also occasionally assists other Fruit Blooms with redecorating and renovation of their homes.

Hobbies: During his free time, which he doesn't have much of, he spends time working on fixing up his family's bake shop. He has love for not just decorating eggs, but decor in general.  His love for children also brings out his babysitting skills.

Bio: Avril comes from a massive family that, for the most part, host large, city-wide Easter celebrations. Many have jokes about their family "breeding like rabbits" because of how many of them there are. He, however, was the main child that, when his father retired, took over their egg decoration and bake shop. The rest of his family helps out as well.

As a child, Avril constantly followed his father around like a hawk, intent on learning his trade and making his father proud. Most of this didn't work out well in his early years though. His sense of things that matched and went well together completely didn't exist. He had no talent whatsoever (at that time) for mixing colors. For the most part, everything he mixed and made came out brown and murky. His father always encouraged him, loving how much he wanted to be such a big part of the shop. Every now and then, they tried to find ways to sell his brown Easter eggs. Not that anyone really wanted them.

He never gave up trying to learn though, intent on being able to take over the family business.

As he grew, he still followed his father, trying to learn all his different tricks for doing things, be it egg coloring, cake decorating, the best places to hide the eggs for the yearly Eater egg hunts. Avril picked up on everything, for the most part.

By his late teens, with an insane amount of practice, and pages upon pages of notes that he still kept in the back room of his shop for reference, he'd managed to break through his mindset of having no natural talent for what his family was meant to do.

But.

As much as he enjoyed running and owning the bake shop, along with aspiring to be as loved by the community as his father, there was one other thing that he loved more.

That thing was children. Avril loved children. If he didn't end up owning the shop, he would have started a daycare service.  In a way, his shop could have been considered as such, as he and occasionally his dad, ran classes year round to teach kids that were interested about decorating cakes and pastries. Around Easter, the held egg decorating classes, where for a small fee, both children and adults could come decorate baskets of eggs to take home. Those classes ran up until the day before Easter.

Why?

Because that was completely dedicated to coloring eggs, and that night to hopping through the whole town and making sure that every home, whether or not they had children, got a small taste of Easter tradition.

What went on was this: After decorating dozens, and dozens of eggs to lay, and making all of the pastries that would be given out when and if the eggs were returned to him, when night had fallen, he and Hyacinthe ventured out to hide them amongst each home (save for the ones that specifically requested that they don't). Alongside the eggs, Avril brought a bucket of edible dye which was used to dip Hyacinthe's feet in, so he could leave bunny foot prints that lead up to the homes of each family that had children (again, excluding anyone that specifically requested otherwise). While this was one of the longest days of the year for him, it was one of his favorites. Next to waking up the next morning, after very few hours of sleep, for the town's pre-planned Eater festivities and seeing everyone, the kids specifically be thrilled about the bunny paw prints and getting to hunt for his eggs. Those who found their eggs, which was almost everyone, could bring them back to his shop to redeem them for a sugary treat. Whichever eggs weren't brought back, he went out personally to retrieve so that no one ended up with rotting eggs hidden on their property.

Needless to say, he usually takes a few much needed days off to relax after all the festivities.
